WE ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THE WINNERS OF THIS YEAR’S GHASSAN KANAFANI RESISTANCE ARTS SCHOLARSHIP

Alf Mabrook to all of the Anthology contributors of the 7th Ghassan Kanafani Resistance Arts Anthology titled “Wherever We Are: Reviving Identity on the New Front Lines”. We are excited to share all of this content with you this Summer.

To read the top-selected submissions and adjoining community features in our newest Anthology, *pre-order your copy here* and keep on the lookout for a Resistance Arts launch party in your community.

All orders of this year’s Anthology and donations to the Ghassan Kanafani Resistance Arts Scholarship help fund next year’s scholarship pot and grow the project. The Scholarship is the first of its kind, open to Palestinian youth, ages 18-25, residing in North America.

1st PLACE

Miqlae , Age 23

Gaza // So-Called US

Miqlae is a queer Palestinian from Gaza on occupied Dakota lands, awaiting--and fighting for--our Right of Return. The fires of an Uprising in 2020 stoked their revolutionary spirit and inspired them further in their passion for The People. They are committed to forging solidarity and shared struggle with our colonized siblings across the Third and Fourth Worlds. From Turtle Island and Abya Yala to Palestine (and beyond), Miqlae asserts that we will have won when there is liberation for ALL of those who are occupied.

2ND PLACE

Naseem Taiseer Saleh , Age 24

Ramallah and Jelezone // Chicago, IL

Naseem is the daughter of Palestinian refugees, both of which are still alive today. She honors her Palestinian lineage and background in all ways possible inside and outside the education sphere. Currently, she is in her 3rd and final year of an M.A. program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Adler University. In her career of counseling, she plans to continue to serve the Palestinian community as well as communities of color and the LGBTQIAP+ community. Naseem asserts that being a Palestinian woman in today’s world comes with its own struggles; as a Palestinian woman, she is reminded in her identities that she is capable of making great change, not only for herself but for the entire Palestinian community and that this scholarship is another step closer to liberating our voices and Palestine.
